November 2008 = 2nd Team Birthday Foldathon!

Marking the 2nd Birthday of our Folding@Home team Aussie Rules Footy, we are going to celebrate by hosting a 'Foldathon'!

Basically, a Foldathon is where you fold as many work units as you can during a set time period (ours being the whole month of November), and building as many points for your donor name as possible.

As well as acting like a Team Member Recruitment Drive, we want to see how far we can push our Team Ranking position, as it stands at 1279th at the moment. By folding as many work units as possible, we'll be doing a lot of important work for Stanford University. It's also a way to create a bit of friendly competitive spirit amongst our team members, spurring them on to either putting on extra machines for themselves, or encouraging their friends and family to join the cause!

I've changed the 'Team Birthday' countdown clock to reflect the time period of the Foldathon. So we now have to the end of November to make as many points as possible!

Here's a snapshot of our current team stats which will be used in combination with a snapshot early on the 1st of December to decide a Winner of the 2nd Team Birthday Foldathon! Where a team member has more than one folding name, the sum of their folding names will be used.

A bit late to report on this one sorry, but zoneur has taken 10th spot on the Team Leaderboard, pushing mikael back to 11th.

Points Milestone - Ugly - 2k

My mate Ugly has just passed the 2,000 points milestone!

He's already scored 3,513 points for the team from only 2 work units! He's looking to climb the team leaderboard quickly too, so lookout! Haha, so far he's sitting 352,481st out of 1,114,484 all-time folders. Great work mate!

Points Milestone - J4CKT - 2k

J4CKT has just passed the milestone for 2,000 points!

New Team Member - J4CKT_PC

It looks as though our latest new team member - J4CKT_PC is part of J4CKT's subteam!

Obviously this is a PC, and it has already returned 1 work unit for 119 points. This one currently sits 904,543rd out of 1,110,747 all-time folders. Thanks for joining up!

Work Units Milestone - RoXeD - 500

RoXeD has now bumped himself up a notch in the Major Milestone Club department, returning his 500th work unit for the team!

Sitting at 120,232 points from 500 work units, he has contributed nearly 10% of all the team's points, and over 10% of all the team's work units! Currently positioned 3rd on the Team Leaderboard, he sits 35,538th out of 1,110,747 all-time folders. Great work mate!

New Team Member - Ugly

One of my mates has just joined the team and is folding under the name Ugly!

He's running the SMP client on an Apple MacBook Pro, so this explains why he has received 1,760 points from his 1st work unit! Already gaining his 1,000 points milestone, he currently sits 460,804th out of 1,110,747 all-time folders. Good stuff mate!

Points Milestone - peterdiva - 10k

peterdiva has just passed the 10,000 points milestone!

Joining the team just over a month ago in late September, he is now positioned inside the team's top 20 team members. Having a look at his donor page tells us he has 3 'active processors' folding under his name, and I can tell by looking at his Kakao Stats summary page, that he has folded atleast one SMP work unit worth 1,760 points. So i'd say he's running a dual-core computer with the SMP client, and possibly another computer with just a single regular client installed. Although, i'm just guessing!

He stats are as follows - 45 work units returned for 10,978 total points, sitting 202,248th out of 1,110,747 all-time folders.

New Team Member - J4CKT

Aussie Rules Footy now has another team member, with a folder going by the name of J4CKT joining up!

Returning 3 work units already, they have made 680 points and sit 626,027th out of 1,110,747 all-time folders.

PS3 work unit downloading issues given short-term fix

If you fold using a PS3, you probably would have noticed just lately, in the last few days or so that your system may have had troubles downloading a new work unit. It seems the servers have been temporarily out of 'jobs' or work units to dish out.

Reading Vijay Pande's blog, Stanford have implemented a short-term fix for the issues, but no comment as to exactly what is wrong.

I had both my PS3s switched off for two days, turning them back on every now and then to see if a new work unit could be downloaded. Last night both PS3s successfully downloaded new work units, one after 1 retry, the other straight away. As far as I can tell, both have been trouble free since. So if you currently have your PS3 down, waiting for these issues to pass, switch her back on, everything should be smooth sailing for now! lol

Points Milestone - Aussie Rules Footy - 1m

A fortnight out from the team's 2nd Birthday, Aussie Rules Footy now joins over 1,300 other teams that have broken through the much sought after 1,000,000 Points Milestone!!!

If you refer back to the 500k points milestone posted in early June, you'll see that we have certainly come a long way as a team, meeting some expectations set down, and exceeding others.

"The 1,000,000 point milestone should be less than 12 months away now" -
It took 19 months to achieve the first 500k points. Turned out to be only a bit over 4 months to achieve the next 500k!

"Team PPD (Points Per Day) figures now average atleast 2,000 PPD with regular figures of 3,000 PPD" - Average figures are now between 4,000 ~ 5,000 with regular 7,000 ~ 9,000 'days'.

"Hopefully recruitment wise we can get a couple of SMP client-running members, and possibly some GPU folders for some big PPD figures" - Whilst i'm not sure about any team members running the SMP client, I do know that we have successfully recruited 2 GPU folders! And yes, they are certainly helping our daily points production!

Exact figures for the team are as follows - 1,000,174 points from 4,098 work units, and a 1,375th position out of 145,334 all-time teams.

I'd just like to thank everyone who is currently folding for Aussie Rules Footy - Team 52735, as well as past members who have contributed to the total points figure we have now. I'm now looking forward to seeing many new team members joining up and pushing ahead for Aussie Rules Footy's 2m Points Milestone!

Folding Setup - Lahm_Family_PS3

As promised this is a snap of my setup for Lahm_Family_PS3. Similar to my other PS3 - smASHer88_PS3, it's a 40GB PAL unit, but it's actually got a different model no. with the serial no. ending in CECHJ02 instead of my existing PS3 which has CECHG02. I'm pretty sure the J models are for those that were part of the Bonus PS3 with Sony Bravia LCD HDTV promotion that happened in July.

Anyways, here's a pic of the PS3 paired up with a Metz Artos 82 MF using Component Video (It's a 'Medium Definition' CRT TV.. no HDMI unfortunately!).

Points Milestone - Lahm_Family_PS3 - 50k

My old man's Playstation 3, Lahm_Family_PS3 has now passed the 50,000 points milestone!

Since joining the team late August, this PS3 has kept it's PPD (points per day) between the average 900~1,000 for a PS3. Expect a 100k points milestone Christmas present from this one! In the new team member post i made at the time, i said i would post a 'Folding Setup' picture soon... well, just look for my next post.

Lahm_Family_PS3 now has exactly 50,211 points to it's name, and that comes from returning 157 work units. It now sits 73,137th out of 1,101,765 all-time folders.

Saturday, October 18, 2008

Points Milestone - zoneur - 10k

zoneur has reached the milestone for 10,000 points!

Using his NVIDIA 8800GTX GPU, he certainly climbs the stats fast! Currently sitting on 11,520 points from 24 work units, he's positioned 194,940th out of 1,101,049 all-time folders. Great stuff mate!

Points Milestone - QCKRNU - 10k

QCKRNU has just passed the 10,000 points milestone!

Using his dual-core setup, he's sitting on exactly 10,023 points from 53 work units, and is positioned 210,762nd out of 1,101,049 all-time folders. Congrats mate!

Major Milestone Clubs

I've decided to sort of 'collate' some of the milestone achievements in both points and work units, and makeup a Major Milestone Clubs list in the top right-hand side of the blog.

The milestone figures used will be the top 3 in each category starting from a the highest achieved milestone figure that either one or more team members has achieved, and then will be the 2 figures below that as well. This may change later on depending on how many team members is in each category.

I hope this can encourage more friendly competition amongst us team members! haha

Work Units Milestone - smASHer88_PS3 - 1k

My original Playstation 3, smASHer88_PS3 has reached the 1,000 work units milestone!

Folding pretty much non-stop since Boxing Day (26th December) last year, this little ripper has just churned out the work units! Accounting for just under a quarter of Aussie Rules Footy's total work units, and just over a quarter of the total points, my PS3 is nearly 100,000 points clear of its closest rival - Ravenge5.

Exact stats are as follows - 1,001 work units, 245,506 points and sits 16,984th out of 1,099,193 all-time folders. What an achievement!

Work Units Milestone - QCKRNU - 50

QCKRNU has now recorded his first work units milestone for returning 50 for the team!

Having returned exactly 52 work units, he has earned a total of 9,858 points, and sits 212,020th out of 1,099,193 all-time folders. Good stuff mate!

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

zoneur has just passed the 5,000 points milestone!

Using his GPU system to his advantage, he's only been a part of the team for less than a week, and already breaking 5k milestones! He currently sits on exactly 5,760 points from 12 work units, and is placed 278,345th out of 1,099,193 all-time folders. Well done mate!

The top 3 order remains unchanged, but now that Jens_Klausen has passed the 50k points milestone, each of our top 5 team members have now contributed over 50,000 points for the team! Congrats guys!

Ravenge5 being the other one, these guys both run computers also, but under different names.

So anyway, now RoXeD has 100,792 points from 424 work units. Sitting solidly in 3rd spot on the Team Leaderboard, he sits 40,043rd out of 1,092,028 all-time folders. Great stuff mate.

Increase in 'active' PS3 folders pushes Folding@Home past 4 Petaflops!

Sony's recent release of 'Life with Playstation' has played the major factor in Folding@Home passing the 4 Petaflops mark. The new update for the folding application on the PS3 has attracted many more 'active' PS3 folders than in recent months. The last time the PS3 had ~ 60,000 active folders would have been when Metal Gear Solid 4 came out, and since then, the numbers have slowly declined back to an average of ~40,000.

At the time of the 3 Petaflop breakthrough, The GPU guys were the major factor, and it has to be said, they've kept up consistent 'active' folder numbers, and even added ~ 300 Teraflops worth since then.

I personally would like to see 'active' PS3 numbers rise to ~ 100,000 and consistently stay there. Considering there is well over 10 million PS3 systems out there, i'm only asking for just 1%!

Actually achieved yesterday, my 2nd PS3 has now returned 55 work units totalling 24,198 points. This positioned it 119,079th out of 1,079,025 all-time folders.

Sony's new 'Life with Playstation' News & Weather Software integrates the latest Folding@Home update

The latest upgrade to the Playstation 3 Folding@Home software will now be integrated into Sony's newly launched 'Life with PlayStation' News and Weather Software.

The new software will function as 'channels', two of which are available at present, one called 'Live' for the News & Weather related side, and of course 'Folding@Home' for viewing the current protein and detailed stats etc. Apparently plans are that new channels of various types will be added down the line.

The good thing about the integration aspect with Folding is that whenever someone uses Life with Playstation they are participating in Folding@Home project at the same time, as the folding process is always going on in the 'background'. So with the current draws of the cool News and Weather Globe, and the likelihood of more channels to be added later, the more participants we can likely add to the project.

If you notice that your folding performance (NS/day) has gone down, its simply because one of the updates has increased the complexity of the folding methods used on the PS3 and are now equal to those used in GPU2. This means better accuracy of scientific results. Folding points have been adjusted so that the PS3 client will still maintain a rough 900~1000 PPD.

Another addition to the folding side of things, is a 'Contribution Points' system (completely separate to the official Stanford stats) where every PS3 folder starts on a clean slate, and gradually builds points as per their contribution efforts. These new points will be linked to the current user's Playstation Network ID (PSN), so lookout for Lahmy88 & Lahm_Family on the leaderboard!

As Vijay Pande has on his blog, here is a video from lead Sony-side developer Noam Rimon explaining the functionality of the new program.

Milestone Reporting

As you may have noticed I haven't always reported 2k points milestones, but i've finally settled on my Milestones figures. Reports will be made at the following milestones.

Points Milestones
1k, 2k, 5k, 10k, 20k, 50k, 100k, 200k, 500k, 1m etc.

Work Units Milestones
50th, 100th, 200th, 500th, 1,000th, 2,000th, 5,000th, 10,000th etc.

Points Milestone - bec_clarke - 2k

bec_clarke has just passed the 2,000 points milestone!

Sitting on exactly 2,011 points from 16 work units, she's positioned 422,065th out of 1,074,611 all-time folders.

Points Milestone - Lahm_Family_PS3 - 20k

Lahm_Family_PS3 has just passed the milestone for 20,000 points!

Totalling 20,385 points from 41 work units, my 2nd PS3 is now positioned 132,569th out of 1,074,557 all-time folders.

Points Milestone - Jens_Klausen - 10k

Our favourite Dane, Jens_Klausen has passed the 10,000 points milestone!

Currently sitting on 11,520 points from 24 work units, he'll most likely be nudging into the Top 10 on the Team leaderboard tomorrow. He stands 187,642nd out of 1,074,557 all-time folders.

It also seems he's upgraded his folding setup by replacing his NVIDIA 8500GT GPU with a 9600GT model. More specifically he's using a ASUS EN9600GT SILENT graphics card. He's got all the details on his latest YouTube video featured below - Folding@Home on a NVIDIA 9600GT GPU.

New Team Member - nitty

We've got a new team member called nitty.

Unfortunately though it seems that although they have returned their 1st work unit, they were not credited for it and appears that they may have returned the work unit past it's deadline. Bad luck... keep folding!

Points Milestone - Jens_Klausen - 5k

Jens_Klausen has just passed the 5,000 points milestone!

Seeing that he only joined the team yesterday, he would be currently returning 2,500 PPD for the Team which is just going to be awesome in helping us achieve a top 1,000 spot for all-time teams.
Exact folding stats are as follows: 11 work units, 5,280 points and all-time donor position of 280,396th of 1,072,634 total.

PPD = Points Per Day

Points Milestone - Jens_Klausen - 1k

The same day he joins, Jens_Klausen passed the 1,000 points milestone!

Already returning 4 work units, he has received 1,920 points from folding with his fast GPU system. He sits 428,597th of 1,071,762 all-time folders. Great stuff mate.

New Team Member - Jens_Klausen

klausendk from YouTube has decided to join our team for a while folding under the name Jens_Klausen.

From Denmark, he's posted his own folding video online - Folding@Home on a NVIDIA 8500GT GPU which features his NVIDIA 8500GT class GPU (specifically an ASUS EN8500GT SILENT MAGIC graphics card) crunching through a work unit.

Welcome to the Team mate.

Points Milestone - rossqo - 5k

It was quite a while ago when rossqo passed the 1k points milestone but he has now finally got his 5,000 points milestone!

A big 1,250 point work unit was returned in the last 24 hours to push him past the milestone, and because of this particular work unit's points reward, we can tell what sort of machine he is folding with - Playstation 3!

Exactly 10 work units have been returned and 5,596 points added to the Aussie Rules Footy points total thanks to his efforts. He now sits 271,814th of 1,071,246 all-time folders. Great stuff mate!

New Top 10 Team Member - Lahm_Family_PS3

Lahm_Family_PS3 has folded its way into the Team's top 10, taking 9th position on the leaderboard edging aside Greg and mikael who now sit 10th and 11th respectively.

Returning 27 work units for 13,840 points, my 2nd PS3 now takes 167,379th position out of 1,070,584 all-time folders.

Points Milestone - bec_clarke - 1k

My cousin bec_clarke joined the Team quite a while ago now, in fact it was in August last year that she returned her 1st work unit, but it has been a long wait for her 1,000 points milestone. The delay has mostly been due to some computer troubles, so she can be forgiven haha.

She has returned 5 work units so far for a total of 1,046 points. This places her 524,029th of 1,069,256 all-time folders. Great stuff cuz.

Points Milestone - Lahm_Family_PS3 - 10k

Joining less than a fortnight ago, my 2nd PS3 - Lahm_Family_PS3 has just passed the 10,000 points milestone!

It has now made 10,545 points for the team from 14 work units which places it 14th on the team leaderboard. It's obviously going to be pushing into the top 10 soon, overtaking RoXeD's idle 2nd folding alias mikael in about 3 days (3k points) time. So far it's positioned 195,097th of 1,067,841 all-time folders.

The PS3 certainly has the advantage for PPD (points per day), usually producing 900-1,000 points each day (on 24/7) whereas the PCs usually have to wait a week to get the same amount. But because the PS3 is less flexible in what type of work it can 'fold' then the regular PCs are still very valuable to the Folding@Home project.

Points Milestone - QCKRNU - 1k

QCKRNU has just passed the milestone for 1,000 points!

So far he has returned 4 work units to add 1,021 points to the team. His contribution so far has positioned him 526,352nd out of 1,067,841 all-time folders. Good stuff mate.

New Team Member - QCKRNU

My Sister's boyfriend has just joined the team under the name QCKRNU and he has already returned 2 work units for the team for a total of 486 points!

He sits 654,431st out of 1,066,618 all-time folders. Great stuff mate.

Problems with certain PS3 WUs? Server VSP06 was down

If your PS3 has had trouble returning work units from Projects 4044, 4045 (the big 1,250 pointers) & 4900 (310 points) then it's because a few days ago one of the four PS3 Servers, VSP06 - 171.64.122.73 was down. Vijay Pande had reported the server's downtime on his blog.

Looking at VSP06's log, the server was down between 7:45 PM PDT, Saturday 30 August and 3:10 PM PDT, Sunday 31 August. If your an East Coast Aussie like myself, then the times translate to 12:45 PM AEST, Sunday 31 August to 8:10 AM AEST, Monday 1st September.

So for approximatley 19 & 1/2 hours, the server was out of action, and it meant that if you had one of the above mentioned work units to return, you would've had to have waited for the server to start up again. Nobody should have had any problems receiving new work units however, as your PS3 would still have 3 different servers to download a work unit from.

PDT = Pacific Daylight Time = GMT-7
AEST = Australian Eastern Standard Time = GMT+10

Points Milestone - Lahm_Family_PS3 - 5k

My 2nd Playstation (the old man's) - Lahm_Family_PS3 has now passed the 5,000 points milestone!

Receiving 5,750 points from only 7 work units, it's certainly getting a good average Points/WU return. That's because it's crunched a few big 1,250 work units from Project 4044 & 4045. It's now positioned 265,223rd of 1,064,129 all-time folders.

Friday, August 29, 2008

Points Milestone - BIGMAN - 10k

BIGMAN has just passed the milestone for 10,000 points!

Only on the 9th, this guy had passed his 5k points milestone. Now he's sitting on 10,141 points from 28 work units and 196,933rd position of 1,061,402 all-time folders. Great stuff mate.

Thursday, August 28, 2008

Points Milestone - Lahm_Family_PS3 - 1k

Lahm_Family_PS3 has passed the 1,000 points milestone!

Now on 1,500 points from 2 work units, it's positioned 460,950th out of 1,060,764 all-time folders.

Wednesday, August 27, 2008

Work Units Milestone - Greg - 100

Greg has returned over 100 work units!

Sitting on 101 work units and 11,562 points to be exact, he's positioned 182,207th out of 1,060,155 all-time folders. But on the team leaderboard he now sits insided the top 10, pushing magicgate3 back to 11th spot. Great stuff mate.

New Team Member - Lahm_Family_PS3

Well i've decided to keep the bonus PS3 I got with my Bravia TV after all. Not selling it anymore, my old man is going to use it mostly for his music and for watching DVD/Blu-rays on the 2nd TV.

Lahm_Family_PS3 is the name the new PS3 will be folding under. It's returned it's 1st work unit already! So far its only got 250 points, but I noticed its crunching through a big 1,250 point work unit now, so it looks like the 1k PPD increase due for the team in one month! that i was talking up a month ago, should hold true! Haha.

I'll post a 'Folding Setup' picture for this PS3 soon.

Points Milestone - Greg - 10k

Just last night ROO_BOY29 moved into 12th spot on the team, and already he's been overtaken by Greg! His move into 12th spot has brought up his 10,000 point milestone as well!

Its been a bit longer between drinks for Greg as he made his 5k points milestone nearly 2 months ago. But he's had a sudden rush of work units in the last 24 hours, returning 5 for 1,480 points! Whatever he's done or changed lately, the effort is certainly appreciated! Haha he's now returned a total of 97 work units for 10,287 points. Great folding mate - Keep going!

Monday, August 25, 2008

Points Milestone - ROO_BOY29 - 10k

Just a fortnight after passing the 5k points milestone, my mate ROO_BOY29 has passed the 10,000 points milestone!

Folding with both his PS3 & Quad-Core Computer, he's pushed himself up to 12th spot on the team leaderboard. He's made a short-term goal to claim Delta_Leviathan's 8th position which is only ~7k points away.

Between his machines he's now returned 37 work units for an exact 10,088 points. This positions him 196,636th out of 1,058,950 folders for all-time.

Points Milestone - smASHer88_PS3 - 200k

Your team leader, and my Playstation - smASHer88_PS3 has just passed the 200,000 points milestone!

Purchased on Boxing Day (26th December) last year, i've had it folding mostly 24/7 since then, only really stopping to play the odd game, or watch a movie.

So far it's crunched through 872 work units for a total of 200,451 points, which places it 18,691st out of 1,058,875 folders for all time. It also means that it has produced just under 30% of Aussie Rules Footy's total points.

I'm aiming to make 300k points by Boxing Day this year haha. Keep folding team, ya doing great!

New Folding@Home Clients Installation Guides

A new page of Client Installation Guides has been added to the Folding@Home website, making it easier for newcomers to install anyone of the various types of folding clients that are now available.

Existing folders can also benefit, whether it's adding an SMP or GPU client to the mix, these new guides will certainly help ease the process! Remember you can always visit the Folding Community Forums as well should you need further help, or just want to provide some feedback on your experiences.

Monitor your PS3 carefully!

Just as a warning, apparently a lot of PS3 folders have had troubles with certain work units, and experiencing funny things like title screens locking up, HDD activity taking way too long and more unfortunate results such as work units being lost, or a complete reset to default settings such as what I experienced!

It seems that Dan Ensign from the Pande Group has removed some problem work units saying:
'I'm going to pull projects 4026-4037 until I get a better sense of what's wrong, from our side. Sorry for the inconvenience.'
Watch these two threads (PS3 stalls at zero frames - various WUs & 4033 flatlined?) from the Folding Community Forum to keep updated on the situation.

GPUs push Folding@Home past 3 Petaflops!

Following a thread in the Folding Community Forums - Highwater Mark , it seems that the total project power of Folding@Home has now passed the 3 Petaflops mark!

This is quite a significant achievement for the project, as 1 Petaflop was only achieved back in September last year. It just goes to show how much the project has grown since then. The release of the more mature GPU2 client has been the significant factor in getting the project to the power it's at now and undoubtably it's also going to be the big push for the project in the next couple of years.

There has already been around 25,000 GPU2 client installs to date, with a healthy 16,000 of those currently 'active'. This easily gives the GPU clients the best active/total CPU ratio of any type. Most others are less than 1:10.

Now there was a bit of a discussion on whether this 3 Petaflops measurement was 'legit' as the whole Stats Server issue could have produced unrealistic figures, but thats seemed to have settled well and truly, and we are definitley past 3 Petaflops by more than a whisker!

The NVIDIA GPUs seem to have the most support at the moment, having ~9,000 more active folders than what the ATI camp has. This is most likely due to the fact that the NVIDIAs are being rewarded with a better PPD average than the ATIs, but then again NVIDIA does have a better market share in graphics cards. But they have also recently released a GeForce Power Pack (to show off special NVIDIA graphics card only features such as PhysX demos & CUDA-based programs) which includes the GPU2 Folding client. So that might have atleast spurred the last week or so's jump in total project power to over 3 Petaflops.

Looks like its time to invest in a little GPU folding action! Just a note though, the PS3 active numbers have really taken a dive lately, and i'd just like to indicate that although GPU systems now put out the most folding power for the project, the PS3 work units are still very important for the project's development, just like the old CPU client is still very valuable. So don't worry about the points too much, just fold however much you can, and know that your helping a very worthy project.

Stats Update delayed due to Power Outage @ SU

Reading Vijay Pande's Blog (particular posts 1, 2 & 3), it seems just yesterday or so, Palo Alto (and therefore Stanford University) has had a pretty serious power outage! It took a fair few servers out of action for a short while, but most are back up now.

One exception though, the Stats Updates server is not operating at the moment. This server usually just updates the Team/Donor stats database every hour, but its just being put on delay for now. A back-logging server is keeping all this information however, so once the updates server starts back up, the database will get updated and you will notice your points and work units count go up two or three days worth to make up for this period of in-activity.

Geez, that'd be chaos at a University! But they seem to be able to fix things up pretty quick which is good.

Got my free Playstation 3! Nice surprise too!

Last week on Wednesday (13th) I received my free Playstation 3 as part of the Sony Bravia Full HD Bonus PS3 in July deal I talked about in my post on the 23rd July - (1k PPD increase due for the team in one month!). I was very glad to see my new PS3 after only 3 weeks since purchasing my new TV, but to top it off Sony actually included a newer DualShock3 instead of the regular SixAxis controller in the box, and also some Video Ezy vouchers! Total champs!

Now to pray that the upcoming 80GB PS3s at the end of the month come with DualShock3s so I can sell this one for a decent price and still end up with the better controller!

Points Milestone - erBotty - 1k

erBotty has passed the 1,000 point milestone! Now sittin with 2,250 points from 5 work units, they sit 393,781st of 1,054,720 folding participants.

I'm a bit slow to report on this one actually, as erBotty passed this mark approximately 2 days ago with a 1,250 point work unit! How do I know this? Well I occasionally checkout the very trusty 3rd party stats provider - Kakao Stats. Specifically I looked up this page - erBotty's Summary and it tells me that they have returned a work unit worth 1,250 points at 22:00~23:00 GMT on the 16th. This is about 8~9AM in GMT+10 Time (What i'm on) on the 17th. So yeh, about two days ago lol.

Just on the 13th, I took a stab at guessing what this team member's folding with (New Team Member - erBotty). Looking at the Project Summary page, I can say now that a Playstation 3 would have to be a correct answer, as there is only two work units which credit 1,250 points, and that is Project 4044 & 4045 which both are PS3 work units.

Congrats to erBotty and hope to get in contact with you soon.

New Team Member - erBotty

A person goin by the name of erBotty has joined the team! They've already got 250 points for the team from their 1st work unit and judging by the points amount, i'm guessing they're folding on a PS3. Welcome to the team!

My mate ROO_BOY29 has now passed the 5,000 points milestone!

Using both his quad-core & PS3, hes returned 21 work units for a total of 5,780 points. That places him 258,059th of 1,047,330 total folders for all-time and just behind BIGMAN on the team at 16th position. Great stuff mate.

Saturday, August 9, 2008

Points Milestone - BIGMAN - 5k

BIGMAN has passed the 5,000 points milestone!

Now sitting 15th on the team, he has returned a total of 20 work units for the team which has earned him 6180 points so far. He also sits 249,557th of 1,046,930 total folders to date. Good stuff mate, keep it coming!

New Look for the Blog!

Thought the blog could do with a bit of a spruce up! I think the layout is a lot more defined now, easier to read and distinguish between the main section and the sidebar.

Points Milestone - smASHer88 - 50k

My computer, smASHer88 has finally passed the 50,000 point milestone!

Its only taken 167 work units to get there! Only! Folding since November 2006, my computer was initially on for only a couple of hours a day. Then as I was starting to download more and more movies etc. I started folding mostly 24/7 and was scoring nice 500 point work units which i'd usually complete twice a week, so it was a steady 1,000 points per week. But the last 6 months or so its been all over the place with what sort of work units its been getting, and seems to be very slow at times at returning them. I've calculated if my total points so far is 50,315, and i've returned 167 work units, then it seems my average points/work unit since starting is 300.

At the moment i'm placed 64,301st of 1,041,069 participants for all time.
